We met in a trapped elevator.
Emmett was on his way to work, sophisticated and handsome in his tailored suit and tie.
I was on my way to the sperm bank. Awkward, right?
At thirty-five, my life hadn’t taken the path I thought it would and I was tired of waiting—I wanted a baby. And I was ready to take matters into my own hands to make it happen.
After our ill-fated elevator encounter, Emmett insisted on taking me to dinner—he also insisted on something else—that I ditch my plan involving a turkey baster and let him do the job. He would be my baby daddy. He was a wealthy and powerful CEO with little interest in diapers or playdates. And since he didn’t want kids, I’d be on my own once his bun was in my oven, free to go my own way.
But once his baby was inside me, it was like a switch had been flipped, and I got a whole lot more than I ever bargained for.
This full-length standalone contains a hot, swoonworthy hero, lots of playful banter and some hot baby-making s-e-x! Enjoy.
“I lie there in the dark, holding a woman I didn’t know I wanted, that I can never have, listening to the soft rhythm of her breath as I try quiet the doubts starting to swirl through my head.”
What’s not to love about a man willing to sleep with a woman to “help” her get pregnant?? I mean it’s nice he is going to take one for team and help her out. LOL
Over the course of their time together I fell in love with Emmett more and more.
I don’t think he knew what he was offering. He didn’t fully understand that by helping her he was going to take stock in his life while seeing just how much she knew what she wanted. Watching him come to terms with where he was at in his life was my favorite part of this book. Well that and the chemistry between these two leaped off of the pages with every scene. Could all of their problems been solved sooner with a simple conversation? Yes. They handled the rest of their situation with an honest adult conversation but I don’t think he was fully ready to admit to himself he got more then he bargained for and she wasn’t ready to admit to herself that she wanted more then what she thought she was getting.
Kendall did fantastic with this one. I thought this was going to be a lighter read then what it was. I was pleasantly surprised that it was emotional and endearing.
