What happens when your sex strike goes viral -- and suddenly every man in town has their eye on your prize?
All I wanted was little old-fashioned romance. After a parade of Tinder disasters who think chivalry is giving me a pearl necklace on the first date, I made a pledge: until guys step up their game, this girl is off the market.
But one bottle of chardonnay later, and my drunken rant has gone viral. I'm the most famous person NOT having sex since the Jonas Brothers put on their purity rings. A men's magazine has even put a bounty on my (ahem) maidenhead: fifty Gs to whoever makes me break the drought.
Be careful what you wish for... Now my office looks like an explosion in a Hallmark factory, I've got guys lining up to sweep me off my feet - and the one man I want is most definitely off-limits. Jake Weston is a player through and through. He's also the only one who sees through the mayhem to the real me, but how can I trust he's not just out to claim the glory?
And how will I make it through the strike without scratching the itch - especially when that itch looks so damn good out of his suit?
This is my second book by Lila Monroe and let me tell you, it was a fun ride. I’ve really enjoyed the humor in the books that I’ve read by her and she is quickly moving up to my must read list.
Lizzie is a bit of an old soul. She is inspired by old Hollywood movies that instill the classic style of romance. The art of wooing. In a world full of dating apps that seem more about finding a quick hook up, Lizzie becomes frustrated. In a video rant meant for her sister, Lizzie declares that she is on strike. She will no longer be having sex until she finds that classic romance that she has been dying for. Unfortunately, that video goes viral and now her life is turned upside down. Not to mention that her new co-worker just happens to one of the sexiest men ever and the one person she is avoiding the most. He’s made it clear from the start that romance is dead and pointless. She’s never going to get what she wants from him, right?
This story has some of my favorite things. Hero and Heroine banter like they hate each other? Check. Humor. Check. HOT scenes. Check. This list goes on. The writing flows effortlessly, making it very easy to read in one sitting. Which I did. I didn’t put the book down once.
I adored Jake. He starts off as your typical jerk. He’s honest and tells you upfront that he doesn’t do romance. His desire for Lizzie only urges his banter with her even more. He’s restless in teasing her and pushing her limits when it comes to their attraction. You can also tell what a good guy he is and that he has his own internal battle when it comes to love. He wants it. You can see it in the way that he wants to protect Lizzie. The way he handles things with her. We all know that sometimes there’s that thin line between love and hate and when it get gets blurred, things can get hot. And Jake sure knew how to keep it hot.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. If you are looking for fun banter, awesome wit, hot scenes and some fun old Hollywood movie references, this this is the book for you!
