What happens when you wake up in a hotel suite next to a gorgeous naked man with absolutely no memory of the past twelve hours?
I guess it's true what they say. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
Or at least I hope it stays here. The Romantic Style convention was meant to be a weekend of raucous fun with friends, sun, and enough poolside margaritas to forget about my ex. But now, instead of meeting my fans and signing books, I'm stuck with cocky divorce lawyer Nate Wexler. He's arrogant, infuriating, and I can't keep my hands off of him. Judging by the state of our hotel room, last night was wild. I just wish I could remember it.
A pair of matching tattoos. A cheap wedding veil. Half an empty box of glow in the dark condoms.
What the hell just happened?
Lila Monroe is a new to me author and I was super exited to dive into this book based off the blurb. Drinks by the pool, romance convention, Vegas, and a crazy night that you don’t remember? Yeah, count me in. I was all too ready to drive into this bad boy.
Julia Stevens is a recent divorcee who is a bestselling author. She’s attending a romance convention in Vegas. The perfect place to forget all about your failed marriage. Outside of the convention, she has plans to sip margaritas by the pool and just have a good relaxing time. She has her best friend Shanna and her agent Meredith with her. Guaranteed fun times.
Nate Wexler is a divorce lawyer who quite frankly has a stick up his ass. He’s a complete jerk. Permanent scowl on his face and rude comments seem to part of his oh so charming personality. *Insert sarcasm* He is in Vegas for his best friend’s wedding and isn’t particularly happy about it. I think Julia says it perfectly…
“If Mr. Darcy was a modern man with a rolling suitcase, a stick shoved way up his ass, and no actual redeemable qualities, he might be this guy.”
When Julia and Nate collide into each other (literally), Nate is a jerk. Julia vows to make sure that she doesn’t run into him again during her trip. Unfortunately for her, chance meetings between her friends and his keeps putting them together. Immediately they both can’t stand each other but as the day wears on and the alcohol keeps flowing, their bodies decide that they might just need each other.
Cue the next morning when they wake up and neither one of them has memory of what happened the night before. They have to backtrack to piece together exactly what happened and it turns out that they had one hell of a wild and crazy night.
I really liked Julia. She speaks her mind and seems to have zero filter. She also had a great sense of humor. I think a lot of people can relate to her personality. She’s just one of those people that you just want to be around. The only trouble I had was her internal dialogue. I just didn’t get the majority of her references. They went completely over my head and because of that, I spent a lot of the book wondering what I missed. If it was just a few references here or there, I would have looked them up but it was too much. At least I can have some comfort in knowing that Nate didn’t get most of her references either. Haha. I’m sure a lot of people will eat this up. I’m probably the minority that did get them. Shame on me.
Nate is your typical brooding man. What is it about a sexy brooding jerk that just gets me going? I fall for it every time. As the pieces of their past night come together, we start to see more of Nate. He can be caring, charismatic and vulnerable. Exactly what we want from our typical brooding men!
Despite not getting the references, I enjoyed this book and I think a lot of people will really like it. It is a fun, quirky, quick read that will keep you laughing and give you the sexy scenes that you are looking for.
