She was everything that I wanted.
He was everything that I despised.

Until she wasn’t.
Until he wasn’t.

Killian Cornellii was a walking calamity. He reached inside of me and touched every single inch of my ruined soul, but he didn’t just touch it. He caressed, petted, and captivated it. He tailored me to fit into the palm of his hands. The same hands that possess so much cruelty, were the very same that comforted me.
I thought I knew him.
He thought he knew me.
This isn’t a fairy tale, or some achingly beautiful story about two soul mates who instantly fall irrevocably in love with each other.
This is a story about a love so painful, so rich, that it destroys everything and everyone around it.
Including ourselves.

Midnight Mayhem is the platform to which Killian performs his tricks on, but the greatest trick wouldn’t come from him.
It would come from me.

Tricksters don’t have hearts.
They just pretend that they do.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

“We all have one thing in common – we’re born with power, but the world doesn’t like a confident woman, so they try to crush them with tabloids of what “perfection” should look like. It’s all a hoax to deceive us into thinking we’re lesser of a woman if we don’t look or act a certain way. We, as a sisterhood, must rise above that and harness the power our ancestors fought so hard for and destroy the patriarchy. This won’t happen quickly. In order for this to happen, we have to stop slut shaming, skinny shaming, fat shaming, fit shaming, or any shaming. There is no shame in what someone looks like, period – what is truly shameful is how easy it is for some of us to attack the other all because it’s not something we would wear or how we would talk. Individuality is a gift.”

Review:

This series, and this world, is something that truly reaches deep and takes a hold of your thoughts, emotions, and time. You’re consumed from the first page till the last. With this book, it does not let up on how phenomenal this series really is.

I always thought that Killian was going to destroy me. Well, he did live up to that prediction. He was so much, and yet some how not enough. He just punched me right in the emotions, and did not let up. Saskia was someone that was so perfect for Killian. I don’t think I could picture anyone else that could even stand toe to toe with him. These two just lit up the pages when the were together. I loved their chemistry.

I can not wait for the next book in this series. That little snack at the end of this book was almost too much. I’m dying for the next book now! Dive into this series if you have not done so yet. You won’t be sorry!

“I’m pretty sure that Kenan can pick up the tension too, but we can’t change someone else’s opinion of us. All we can do is let them brew over whatever they have stewing in their hand, knowing that we won’t be at the table when they decided to serve up their dish.”
