It was meant to be the job opportunity of a life time.
It turned out to be so much more…
At the age of twenty five, Emma Lexington takes off to New York on a once in a life time twelve-month job exchange with the New York Warriors. Determined to make the most of the opportunity, she prepares herself for life in the big apple—fast paced, exciting and a whole lot of fun. What she hasn’t prepare for though, is meeting him.
The charming Will Jensen is in the prime of his playing career. As the star quarterback for the Warriors, his carefree, football centric life is thrown into disarray when he meets Emma, the beautiful, easy going Australian girl who joins the Warriors staff.
Unwilling to throw her professional reputation away on a fling with the playboy quarterback, Emma turns down Will’s advances, even though she can’t deny the attraction she feels for him. Their pull toward one another grows, but it takes a near disaster for Emma to finally give Will a chance.
Getting together might have been hard, but figuring out how to stay together will prove even more challenging as Emma must decide between conflicting loyalties.
Lexington and 42nd is a fun, sexy romance, set in the exciting world of the NFL in the fabulous city of New York.
This is Kim Carmody’s debut album and I’m so happy I got to read it. This book is about Emma Lexington’s journey to New York City for an internship for the NFL. Emma is from Australia and is learning to adjust not only to a new city but to a new sport with new rules that she needs to learn. Once she gets over the sparkle that is NYC, she focuses on her career and making sure she is on top of her game. There’s just one problem…
Will Jensen is that typical beautiful golden boy who gets what he wants and what he wants is Emma. This is probably my favorite part about their story. The chase. Emma knows that getting involved with Will is absolutely the worst thing for her career and she does everything to avoid her intensely growing attraction. Will makes it very clear how much he wants Emma and he is relentless. He had me falling for him from the start. He is very charismatic and swoon-worthy. We get to see his vulnerable side and we melt for him all over again. At least I did.
I really liked Emma. She’s headstrong, funny and loyal. However, there were times I just wanted to shake the hell out of her and tell her to wake up! To look at what is going on and to make a damn decision. I think that’s a good thing. At least she pulled some emotion out of me other than me just swooning over Will. And I enjoyed their banter. She’s witty and it’s a perfection combination to Will’s charm.
I want to make note of how much I enjoyed Buck, Will’s best friend and teammate. He is a lovable teddy bear who you just want to hang around all the time.
Overall, this is a really good debut novel from Kim and I enjoyed it. If you are looking for a quick, mostly lighthearted sports book, then pick it up! Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a sport’s fan to enjoy this book. Will makes you forget all about football when he’s around! 😉
