I witnessed a murder and became his hostage.

Held captive beneath the deck of a shipping container…. I realise to save my life I need to become valuable.
My body is my only weapon.
His pleasure to my pain.

28 days is a long time to Play Along with his perverted demands.
He thinks I enjoy them.
It disgusts me that I secretly do.

I hate him.
I crave him.

But my mind is stronger than my body and this time he picked the wrong girl to mess with.
When the player becomes the played, escape will be my reality.

This is my first book by T.L. Swan and what really captured my attention was the the blurb. It sounds like it was going to be a pretty dark read and I’m a sucker for the dark books. I will admit that it didn’t turn out quite as dark as I was anticipating and I think I never really got over that. So while my rating may be 3 stars, it’s simply because of that. So don’t let it fool you. I did enjoy it, I just wanted more.

I will say this, while it wasn’t as dark as I was expecting, it certainly kept you guessing. There were a lot of surprises and we are constantly left thinking who did what and who is who. The connections that these characters end up having are all caught up in one big spiderweb.

I went back and forth with Mac. He was so dark and appealing in the beginning and then his feelings towards Rosh changed and he became almost a different person. Although there were still traces of the dangerous man he really is, I wanted to see a bit more of that. Even after he fell for Rosh.

I did really like Rosh. She isn’t at all what you think she would be. She’s kidnapped but from the beginning she was full of strength and fight and she’s actually way more intelligent that we are led to believe at first. She was fun to follow throughout the entire story and her bravery was commendable.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and I look forward to more from T.L. Swan. If you are looking for a good mind chaser that keeps you guessing and an epic love story, then this is the book for you.
