Raven: To seek, plunder, or prey. To devour ravenously. To seize as spoil.
I am Raven.
I knew what it meant to fight my way through life.
To be the victim, the spoil, the prey.
I decided long ago I would take control of my future.
No more bug infested couches.
No more drug-addicted mothers or absentee fathers.
No more welfare checks or moldy bread.
No more settling.
I thought I had it all figured out, a way out of the hand I’d been dealt.
Until my life got turned upside down by two very different men who look at me with mirrored lust in their eyes.
Their want is palpable, heady. Their desire makes me reckless.
I no longer know who I am or who I want.
The only thing I do know is, I am ravenous.
Voracious. Intensely eager for gratification or satisfaction.
Despite the fact I know it is a disaster waiting to happen, I can’t stop it.
I’m afraid I will never be sated.
L.L. Collins is a new to me author and I’m so happy I’ve gotten to read her work. She’s been on my TBR but this is the first book of hers that I’ve read. While I admit that I thought this book was going to be a bit darker than what it was, I’m happy with the outcome. I really didn’t know that I would have swooned over someone as much as I did.
I enjoyed the plot a lot. I like the idea that the Raven could like both guys for total different reasons. I won’t give away anything but the idea of just who the two guys are and how they are all roped in together is fun to watch play out. I myself found that I liked both Porter and Breck. Although they are completely different, they both have something about them that is very appealing.
I also really liked Raven. She’s trying to change her adult life into something much better than what her drugged up mother provided for her. She has a big heart and we get to see that with her love and concern for her sister. Because of her past, she’s always felt a little inferior to others so when Breck shows up in her life and sets out to make sure she believes just how amazing she is, I about died from swooning. If that is possible. He’s just so freaking sweet.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It’s well written and has a steady pace that allowed me to read it in one sitting. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one. I really need that story. I’m ready to watch the main character for that one fall and fall hard. Well done, L.L. I’m so excited to finally discover your work!
