Lainey has heard the ghost stories of the beast in the woods, but one night around a campfire she discovers some legends are true.

The Butcher has watched her from a distance, but he’s a man with needs and won’t deny himself any longer.

Warning: We’ve teamed up with Jessa Kane again to bring you filthy, over-the-top hotness. It’s ridiculously fun, so don’t be shy! Grab your marshmallows and join us for this dirty treat!

This is another collaboration between Alexa Riley and Jessa Kane and I’m starting to like these ladies writing together. Being a huge AR fan, I’ve really enjoyed the added elements that Jessa Kane has brought.

I didn’t think it was possible but Summer Camp Captive pushes an AR book even more over the top. Sure, we get the typical checklists that I love. Alpha, Virgin, insta-love, etc. But this book was more OTT than I could have even thought. Carver is just a gentle giant and you can’t help but want to make sure that he gets all the loving that anyone could possibly give him.

I think Lainey is where I got a bit disconnected. I enjoyed the fact that she knew exactly what he needed even if he didn’t. However, she shouldn’t know what to do. I should like the fact that she went from a sweet camp girl to taming the beast but something didn’t just click for me. Maybe I wanted her a bit more vulnerable. I honestly don’t know. But that doesn’t mean that I didn’t like her, because I did. I just didn’t fully connect with her.  Yes, I said connect. Even with this small novellas, I think you should be able to connect to the main characters in some way.

Despite my lack of connection with Lainey, I really loved Carver. My heart bled for him from day one. I will admit that I have no idea how Lainey wasn’t terrified of him physically. I mean come on, even I was cringing a little bit for her.

Overall, I did enjoy this book. It’s a super quick escape with a different over the top insta-love that involves a lot of growling and demanding virgin.
