Rhage and Mary return in a new novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, a series “so popular, I don’t think there’s a reader today who hasn’t at least heard of [it]” (USA Today).
Nothing is as it used to be for the Black Dagger Brotherhood. After avoiding war with the Shadows, alliances have shifted and lines have been drawn. The slayers of the Lessening Society are stronger than ever, preying on human weakness to acquire more money, more weapons, more power. But as the Brotherhood readies for an all-out attack on them, one of their own fights a battle within himself…
For Rhage, the Brother with the biggest appetites, but also the biggest heart, life was supposed to be perfect—or at the very least, perfectly enjoyable. Mary, his beloved shellan, is by his side and his King and his brothers are thriving. But Rhage can’t understand—or control—the panic and insecurity that plague him…
And that terrifies him—as well as distances him from his mate. After suffering mortal injury in battle, Rhage must reassess his priorities—and the answer, when it comes to him, rocks his world...and Mary’s. But Mary is on a journey of her own, one that will either bring them closer together or cause a split that neither will recover from...

Review

I am so happy that JR Ward is going around the main original couples and giving them kinda a follow up book. That and at the same time bring in new characters and new story lines. No one does multiple story lines as well as JR Ward does, this has always been one of the things I love the most about her books.

I’m going to run this review in bullet points LOL! If I write one now I’m sure to spoil something. I am trying to keep my raving about this book in check. I want to gush about all of it.

-Mary and Rhage are evolving and so is their relationship. This happens with everyone and right now is their time. I loved their story here.

-Assail surprised me and I think he was my favorite part of this book.

-BUTCH AND V! My favorite bromance. I’m glad these two made and appearance.

-New Female character, I’m looking forward to more of her.

-Lassitar, I didn’t think I could love him anymore. Then this book came and he said that one thing to Rhage and my heart melted.

-Layla and Xcor…..I’m thinking you are going to get your book finally. You two have now peaked my interest after this book. I wasn’t invested in your story till this book. Now I’m ready for you two.

-I think we meet the next two main characters (aka trainees) for the book Blood Vow (Black Dagger Legacy) that comes out this year. Just a prediction. I could be wrong. I’m usually not but I could be lol.

It was so much awesome in this book I loved every minute I spent reading it. It’s heart-warming, captivating and another instant classic from JR Ward. I can’t wait till the next one comes out. I loved this one on every level.
