Misled by the one she trusted the most...With one standard traffic stop, everything Avianna Linton knew was shattered. Suddenly, her life wasn't what she thought. Hoping for anonymity and a new life, Avi flees to the bright lights of New York City, ready to start over.
Broken by a past he can't escape...Rising from nothing on his own, Noah Adams grasps to power with bone-crushing grip, refusing to let anyone control him. The only person to ever dare to question his authority is her. And he can't handle it.
Connected by more than their disdain for one another... Avi can barely hide her contempt for him. Noah struggles to control himself in her presence. Their attraction is undeniable, but impractical. They make no sense. But the closer they get, the deeper they fall.

He’s been a pawn in a game all along...
The King of New York is back. And now, he’s got a Queen on his arm. Just when Noah Adams and Avi Linton are finally settling in to their “happily ever after,” another evil is preparing to make a move. This time, the game just got a little more dangerous and nobody will come out unharmed. Determined to protect her at all costs, Noah puts his life on the line for the only woman who ever mattered to him. But that might not be enough.
When the past begins to threaten their future, Avi and Noah must fight for their present. But can they battle against their enemy without descending deeper into danger?

I read these two together so I am writing my review for them together. Allyn is a newer author and defiantly a new to me author. I do think she is a good writer and I see lots of potential. There was a few things for this story that I had trouble with though. I did think this was a good story over all. The pace of it was good but in a few scenes it would just abruptly stop and switch. That kinda messed up the flow for me. The characters of Noah and Ali were likable but for me I had trouble picturing them actually together. I was told they had great chemistry and an instant connection. I just didn’t see it. Noah is a dick. I usually like these kinda guys in books. Well, there my favorite actually. With him though I was once again told this but never felt he was or I wasn’t shown it either. Lots of telling in the book but not showing it to the reader. Avi was ok, she did get frustrating at times, that might just be for me though. I did like that we had several story lines going on and they kinda tied up at the end. That makes for good substance in a book. I usually call this “meatier books”. I think this is a lot of little things that can easily be worked on by a good writer. Allyn is a good writer and with time I feel she will be a great one. These are good books over all and if you think they sound like your kinda thing go ahead and pick them up.

About Allyn Lesley

As a teen, Allyn lost herself in the pages of some of romance’s heavyweights, trusting that a happy ever after was just around the corner. In Allyn’s own writing journey, as in life, she’s learned that people don’t always experience recovery and restoration after a fall. Her stories speak to the gritty side of life where the right choice isn’t always easily identified and happiness not quickly gained.

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing my novels. I was touched when I read that you think I’m “a good writer and [you] see lots of potential”. 🙂
