She’s good at achieving her goals…
College senior Sabrina James has her whole future planned out: graduate from college, kick butt in law school, and land a high-paying job at a cutthroat firm. Her path to escaping her shameful past certainly doesn’t include a gorgeous hockey player who believes in love at first sight. One night of sizzling heat and surprising tenderness is all she’s willing to give John Tucker, but sometimes, one night is all it takes for your entire life to change.
But the game just got a whole lot more complicated
Tucker believes being a team player is as important as being the star. On the ice, he’s fine staying out of the spotlight, but when it comes to becoming a daddy at the age of twenty-two, he refuses to be a bench warmer. It doesn’t hurt that the soon-to-be mother of his child is beautiful, whip-smart, and keeps him on his toes. The problem is, Sabrina’s heart is locked up tight, and the fiery brunette is too stubborn to accept his help. If he wants a life with the woman of his dreams, he’ll have to convince her that some goals can only be made with an assist.
I’ve enjoyed this series from the very start and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on The Goal. There was always something mysterious to Tucker that just left me itching to know his story. Thankfully, we finally got it!
John Tucker is one of the stars of Briar University’s hockey team. He’s always been the supportive guy both on the ice and in his personal life. So it only makes sense that he would be the same way with the mother of his unborn child. Unfortunately, she’s not really interested in him being all that involved.
Sabrina James has worked her entire life to make sure she is successful in the future. That also means that she comes off as rude or stuck up because she doesn’t have time for failure. She isn’t easy going when it comes to making a life for herself. When her friends convince her to blow off some of that tension her crazy schedule creates, she ends up hooking up with her favorite type of guy. An athlete who should be emotionally unattached and looking for no strings attached. Trying to keep the hansom John Tucker at arms lengths becomes even more impossible when she becomes pregnant. Will she be able to accept Tucker’s help or will she continue down her one woman path to ensure her future ends up exactly how she always planned it?
I’m just going to start with Tucker. A Southern gentleman with charm and manners who can easily sweep a woman off her feet. It’s no secret that Tucker falls for Sabrina quickly and normally I’m kind of put off by that but somehow he makes it work. It must be all that Southern charm. He’s kind, patient, caring and has one hot, dirty mouth!
What surprised me the most was how much I actually ended up liking Sabrina. Encounters with her in previous books showed her as being a bitch. However, this book shows us the real Sabrina James. A woman who is strong, determined, loving, caring and has a great sense of humor. Tucker immediately recognized that she is a normal woman who is vulnerable just like everyone else.
“I see flashes of vulnerability in her bottomless dark eyes and I just want to…take care of her.”
I loved seeing just how vulnerable she really was because it made her so much more relatable. Tucker is the perfect person to balance her out. She’s feisty and loves control. He’s calm and supportive. Together, they are perfect for each other.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. We get the normal hot hockey player like we do from the previous books but this time we get a little bit of a sweet charmer that easily wins everyone over. You don’t want to miss out on their story so get this now!
