It’s not easy being the bad guy.

Yeah, that’s a lie. It’s pretty damn simple. You act and you own it. You sell your soul to protect those you love and screw the rest.

It’s the restraint that’s hard. The demons that poke at your trigger, burn in your gut—just waiting for a second of freedom to unleash the fire in your soul.

Call me a villain. Call me whatever helps you sleep at night and feel good about the black and white of love. But watch your back because I don’t care. Until I do.

And then I implode.

Note: VIPER directly follows the action in Tracing Holland (NSB #2), but can also be read as a standalone.

This novel is a work of fiction and intended for mature readers. Events and persons depicted are of a fictional nature and use language, make choices, and face situations inappropriate for younger readers.

“I need you to kick the world’s ass for me while I hide. That’s why I came to you. I need you to be my Viper.”

“Vipers measure their venom too. Yep, they control how much they want to release into their prey.”

Review~

I love Alyson’s writing. There is something real and powerful about it. If you’ve followed our blog you know I absolutely loved her Night Shifts Black book. It’s one of the best books I’ve read the past few years. Her writing reaches deep down into your soul and hits a place very few authors do.

Wes and Hannah both are trying to check out of life, both for different reasons but equally emotional reasons. Alyson does a terrific job of making you connect to the characters and care about their story. This book is a journey of recovery, finding your place and hope.

I can see how this would be ok if you have not read Night Shifts Black (book 1) and Tracing Holland (book 2). Even though it would be fine I still think you should not miss those books. The story in Viper would be so much more if you have read the rest of the series. Plus, I just really love those books and don’t want you to miss them. Give these books a try, you will find out why I love her writing and she will become a “do not miss” author for you as well.

“Her darkness is mine
Desperate to hide,
In the lie of
Breathing hard.
Igniting skin, she sins in the
betrayal of lust
She just, needs a sign that
she’s alive and
Free to fly.”

About Alyson Santos

I’m a writer, musician, and cat lover. I’m also an alternative music junkie. Seriously, totally addicted.

I write what needs to come out, whether it’s pain, tears, or laughter. I write people and relationships, about the beauty and horror of what we do to ourselves and each other. I write Love. Vengeance. Compassion. Cruelty. Trust. Betrayal. Forgiveness. Darkness, and the incredible way humans destroy and heal each other.

I like to eradicate barriers, refusing to be confined by the laws of physics or limitations of reality. I will befriend a vast population of possibilities and introduce them in ways that might surprise you.
